Wednesday started out as most Wednesday do - wake up, get the kids to school and get to work, but that's where the day turned into the BEST DAY EVER!

I was invited to the set of IRON MAN 2 at Marvel Studios in Manhattan Beach along with a handful of other online sites. Although it was drizzling and dreary outside, we were about to go inside one of the hottest sets in production - the Iron Man sequel - once again directed by the genius that is Jon Favreau.

One of the nicest guys in the business, Favreau was inviting and charming for the entire duration of our visit, although I heard there may have been some Chinese water torture shortly after we left.

He enthusiastically took us into the Iron Man world and we didn't look back.

Our group had the privilege of seeing sets that included Tony Stark's Work Shop (in which we had to wear these awesome high tech booties for our shoes), a few scenes being shot that involved star Robert Downey Jr. and some really hot stuff I am not able to divulge at this time, you'll have to wait for that!

We talked at length to Marvel's Kevin Feige, Favreau and Tony Stark himself, Robert Downey Jr.

I can't tell you everything now, I wish I could, but I promise you it's good stuff...all of it and it's worth the wait.

And you won't have to wait too long, San Diego Comic Con will be cool not only because IESB is once again holding The Wrath of Con party at the Hard Rock, but also because Favs has said on his Twitter that they are excited about taking the film to show the fans a sneak peek, can't wait for that!

Favreau left us with a gift of a challenge coin engraved with the Iron Man insignia. For those of you not familiar with the coins, military challenge coins have stood to represent unity and camaraderie for all who carry them.

The tradition of the Challenge Coin originated during World War I. American volunteers had formed flying squadrons. Each member of one of these squadrons had a solid bronze medallion produced by the squadron’s wealthy lieutenant. One member of this squadron escaped from German captivity and was recaptured by the French. The French were about to execute the American not knowing he was a friend. But the squadron medallion worn by the American was recognized by one of the French. The American flyer’s life was spared.

During and after World War I, a tradition began to ensure that members carried their coin at all times. This goal was pursued by having a member challenge another member to show the coin. If the challenged could not show the coin, the challenged had to buy a drink of choice for the challenger. If the challenged could show a coin, the challenger had to buy the drink. For many years after World War I, surviving members kept this tradition alive.

Director Jon Favreau learned this tradition during the first Iron Man film while they were shooting at Edwards Air Force Base in California. Several of the military personnel gave their challenge coin in a handshake with the filmmaker as a sign of respect. Favreau was deeply appreciative of the gesture and vowed not to be empty handed when it came to shooting Iron Man 2.

The director had custom challenge coins for the film made that he could give out in return as a sign of respect to our military personnel, they've also helped him save a few bucks on his bar tab. He graciously gave each online reporter a challenge coin while we were on set. It was amazing and is the most memorable thing I have ever received from a film production.

I've posted pictures of the coin below, on one side is the Iron Man mask plus “Director” is inscribed. On the flip side is the S.H.I.E.L.D. Eagle logo with the name spelled out around the edge.

By the time we wrapped up Wednesday around 9:30pm, our group walked away with high tech booties, custom Iron Man challenge coins and a whole lot of Iron Man goodness!
