Some pictures (and details) from the Iron Man 2 set...

First, Jon Favreau posted this picture on his Twitter:

Then, Frosty over at Collider.com posted this report from someone who saw the filming:

******************************

Just a few minutes ago I spoke with someone who watched tonight’s location shooting of “Iron Man 2” here in Los Angeles. Since he didn’t have the time to write up an article, he told me everything he saw on the phone.

The first thing he told me was the production name.

If you didn’t know, when a movie is shooting, it’s never called by the actual title. The reason is…if you saw a sign while driving to work that said “Iron Man 2” with an arrow pointing down a street…would you continue to your job or would you go watch filming.

Exactly.

So instead of calling it “Iron Man 2”, the production is being called “Rasputin”. So if you live in L.A. and see signs for that name…you might want to take a look.

Anyway, filming was scheduled tonight at a famous landmark called Randy’s Donuts near Los Angeles International Airport. As you can see in the picture, it has a huge donut on top of the building. Maybe it’s even big enough to have a guy in an Iron Man suit standing inside it…

If you follow director Jon Favreau on Twitter, earlier today he reported he was filming with Tony Stark and Nick Fury. While my friend didn’t see both of them on set, he did get to see Samuel L. Jackson in costume as Nick Fury. He thinks they must have been filming on set and then he watched another part of the scene.

My friend - let’s call him James - said that filming at the location lasted between 45 minutes to an hour and there were tons of production assistants and production people around the set. That’s the reason why we don’t have a new picture for this article…he never felt like he could take out his camera and get the shot.

Anyhow, James said that he saw a stand in for Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark) on set and that he watched Nick Fury race up to the donut place in a blue government car and he got out and walked to his right to get a better view of where Iron Man would be. The camera was on a crane. James said it appeared that Iron Man was going to be in the donut hole on the roof and that Nick Fury was yelling at him, but he couldn’t hear what he was saying.

He also reported that Sam Jackson was in the same costume as the end of the first film - a long black trench coat.

James said that almost as fast as filming began, it was over. While I was hoping for a bit more, I’m so excited for this sequel, I’ll take this little bit of news.

Look for more news on “Iron Man 2” as we get it. And I’ve joined the ever growing world of Twitter…
