A silly thingamajig
Grrr..I finally get some time to surf the net over here in Basra and I check out Sarcastress' journal and now I feel compelled to do this survey question thingamabob (or jig, take your pick).
Sorry folks, but here's more info than you need about me:
1. The phone rings; who do you want it to be?
I'm not too much of a phone person, but i would guess my dad or wife...nope scratch that - I love to hear my daughter jibber jabbering on the phone, it just makes my day.
2. When shopping at the grocery store, do you return your cart?
Always, irregardless of weather or nutzoid soccermoms who don't want to yield for pedestrians (small pet peeve of mine)
3. In a social setting, are you more of a talker or a listener?
It depends on how comfortable I am with the people. In some cases I am like the energizer bunny and won't shut up. Other times you'd be lucky to get 5 words out of me.
4. Do you take compliments well?
No. Especially when people thank me for serving. I still haven't figured out the right response to that one.
5. Do you play Sudoku?
Daily...sometimes even multiple times daily
6. If abandoned alone in the wilderness, would you survive?
Yeah, I think I could manage to hang on for a bit. And if I just follow a stream to civilization, all the better.
7. Do you like to ride horses?
No. My ex fiancée and her family thought it would be funny to get the last horse I rode to take off running (and me without a saddle). Did I mention that she is my ex?
8. Did you ever go to camp as a kid?
I went to a camp that turned out to be highly Southern Baptist. Worst. Camp. Ever.
9. What was your favorite game as a kid?
I guess Stratego...ohhh or better yet, Uno!
10. If a sexy person was pursuing you, but you knew he/she was married, would you go for it?
Umm..no. I'm married thank you. If I wasn't married...no. Most of the wives around me are married to people who have access to automatic weapons.
11. Have you lied to get out of a date?
No, but I might have lied to GET a date.
12. Could you date someone with different religious beliefs than you?
Me and my wife have separate beliefs (in fact, no one I have ever been with shares my religious - or lack thereof - beliefs).

I like to pursue. It's really fun when you are running down some asshole insurgents while looking like an oversized turtle in body armor...wait, you were asking about relationships weren't you...right....

I never cry. it is unmanly and the mere suggestion is offensive. But there are occasions when a freak phenomenon such as dust may inadvertently get in my eyes during songs such as "Don't Take The Girl" and "Letters From Home". Hey I said it was DUST dammit!
16. Are you continuing your education?
I need to. I have a BA in History, but it would be nice to get a graduate degree.

Ummm.....kinda sorta....
18. If your house was on fire, what would be the first thing you grabbed?
My daughter and wife (they are both light as a feather so I should be able to carry one in each arm).
19. How often do you read books?
Not nearly as much as I used to (but I have, embarrassingly enough, been on a HUGE "Punisher" graphic novel kick this past year - but only those by Garth Ennis)
20. Do you think more about the past, present or future?
I guess the future. I can't wait to get this deployment done so I can see my wife and kid.

I guess "Goodnight Moon". My wife reads it to our daughter all the time

For service, the week before Easter 1998 because my ex wanted to go. I had some briefings I had to attend at a chapel on Ft Riley back in May.

The DFAC (about 400 meters away). No I have no life and got nothing to do. "Join the Army, see the world" my ass.

Civil Affairs Team Chief.

Yes, especially Hot Chinese Mustard. That is the bomb.

Oh, definitely sleep. Which is why I'm pissed right now. Because I've been up for 30 hours 'casue I couldn't get to sleep for some reason. I think I was hungry...

Oh, definitely my father. I have cultivated my look around him. So now I am short, stocky, and bald just like him. Thanks dad.
35. How long does it take you in the shower?
Oh, I don't know. 30 minutes. I love hot showers more than just about anything else.

My body would break before I ever could achieve a split.
37. What movie do you want to see right now?
I'm waiting for the remake of Friday the 13th. It comes out 13 Feb 09. So I'll see it about 25 Oct 09.

Not a chance.

I think me and the wife slept through it because our baby thought it was a good idea to sleep at the time.

It wasn't too bad. Definitely better than I was expecting.

Not my type of movie.

Yes, but it is a really cheap phone with like .5 pixels sooo...I only use it to make phone calls.

Not really, but I also never throw away ANYTHING, so I'm sure I could find something from each of my ex's if I looked hard enough.

No. At least not that I know of. God, I certainly hope not.

It's cool. My first and middle name is supposed to mean "little gift of the lord". I like it because it's ironic.

I enjoy 8. In reality it's about 6.

I don't go to theaters anymore. Why pay $35-40 to see a movie when I can just download it....errr I mean rent it instead?

Well that seems to be the question. If you mean, can I lose all my money in a record amount of time, then yes. Yes I can play poker.

What type of question is that? What is this, an inquisition? That's like someone walking up and saying - Do you hate America? Do you hate puppies? Do you hate sex? There's only one proper response to all those questions. Come on.

I don't fight with anyone in my family. I simply refuse to. I'm only home for very short amounts of time, so I don't want to spend it arguing over stuff.

Unfortunately yes, but I'm trying to work on it.
