It should come to no surprise that my 360 died shortly after the time my warranty expired. Awesome.

i wonder if you could buy one from sam's club, switch them, and return the old one.

granted, you're in law school and i'm sure you're studying tons about "ethics" but...yeah.

i'm guessing they don't scan serials.

in my professional responsibilities class we actually read a case about a lawyer getting busted for doing things like that.

Not worth the risk. I checked serial numbers at EB myself before we switched to a built in computer system check on all returns. This plot, while nefarious, is nothing new to retail outlets.

Yeah, I totally agree. Something so obvious is definitely never gonna fly at any major retailer. That, and the fact that they just announced a price cut on the elite.

i worked at big box electronics retailers for years. if there is a will there is a way. i do not condone doing return scamming but when i was in a pinch earlier in adulthood i pulled a few scams here and there. i will say, however, that companies have indeed become better with information system glitches/inventory/all that jazz so it has become more difficult.

although the concept is not new by any means, technology across the board has improved dramatically. most people would be surprised the lengths people will go to just to save a few bucks. as long as you have customer service reps that hate their jobs these things will happen.

i still remember someone stripping a desktop computer, filling it with literal bricks, and returning it successfully to the circuit city i worked at. i guess this explains why they're out of business, eh?
