BEHOLD! GEEKDOM!

Warning. the following post is an unabashed develling into a topic of utter geekiness and matters that matter not one jot.

On fan-made designs of the Federation Starfleet from Star Trek.

fans have been coming up with their own designs for the starships from the Star Trek universe since the 1970s, moreso than any other universe. my theory as to why is the universal technical consistances not only for Starfleet vessels, but for all ships in the Trek universe. most all ships feature warp nacelles and fit racial design patterns. and there have been thousands of fan made designs of Starfleet vessels, and ironically most have been of a more militaristic slant. Superbattlecruisers and fighter craft and assault ships. While Starfleet has a defensive role, it is primarially a peaceful organization devoted to diplomacy and scientific exploration. i, creative guy i am, have made dozens of designs myself (mostly out of clay) and mine tend to "fill in the gaps" of the established, offical designs. i design smaller ships, often specialized to specific missions, mostly classificed as science vessels or transports rather than combat ships (although i have done a few Defiant-size patrol ships). some of my more interesting ones have been an archeology ship, a ship designed to go into water for interacting with aquatic lifeforms (backstage information has said there are dolphins in the crew of the Enterprise from TNG), a ship to travel at relativistic speed tunneling passages out of nebulae, and a prototype timeship

well, that's just something, doubt many care. i just felt like updating and couldn't think of anything else to say.
