Anything important I should know about whatever it is I'm going to be using to get there? Space and distance bullshit usually has this weird way of going sideways on me when I least need it to.

Not really. The door will be made to take you on a set route, so you don't need to worry about it playing tricks on you. Alternatively, it means that you can't use it to go anywhere else but work. Oh, an it looks like a big blank white door with a black star near the top. That should about cover it.

What's keeping someone from using it the other way around?

The difference is that other people won't know what they're looking for. They won't even know the door is there. You have to know where a door is in order to use it, otherwise it won't show up. So the only people using it will be the ones you tell.
