I just realized that today is the four year anniversary of my arrival in Boston.
Rob and I went to Walden Pond yesterday around sunset. We walked the trail around the pond and watched people swimming. We could have stolen their clothes from shore, but we didn't. We saw Thoreau's cove and the spot where his house was. It's near to a marshy spot and mosquitos were buzzing around. I kept imagining how it must have been in the middle of the summer, a huge black mass of mosquitos rising into the air over the marsh and chasing you around the pond. There was a large, chatty group of old people there with stringy white hair and toned, tanned bodies. They were probably the cool kids in the 60s. We spotted an older couple having a picnic dinner of a baked chicken, a full loaf of bread and chilled white wine in miniature wine glasses.
