New Floors!
I made final preparations and nailed down a flooring contractor (hah! Nailed Down!) this week. They will be here bright an early in one of those single digit hours on monday to replace the flooring in all the house except the entry way and the bathrooms. Unfortunately this will be a piecemeal project as the tile will not be shipped until maybe friday and the carpet the week after that. He's even throwing fixing the walls where the dog ate the house at no charge! Woo Hoo! I am just hoping it will be done before the Fair.
I'll be sure to take before and after pictures. When it's done only two rooms will be carpet, the master BR and one of the guest BRs. The office, 2nd guest BR, hallway, LR and DR will be a lovely light cherry laminate. The Kitchen, Den and Utility room will be a tile laminate which is really cool. It looks like tile but it snaps down like laminate. I was going to get tile but while ripping up the old carpet, I discovered a few foundation cracks which I will not be able to fix until my savings gets replenished and tile is less forgiving than the laminate. Lastly the laminate is cheaper and has a 30 year waranty which if this house is still standing in 30 years, I'll be amazed. The carpet is a really cool beige color with little flecks of blue,green and mauve in it. small but still noticable that it's not solid beige carpet.
