To be honest, I really can believe that it's not butter. Not by taste, but just knowing. For every natural taste, a team of chemical engineers have proven their ability to blend a slurry of oils and natural flavors, run statistical studies and mimic the flavor so well that the the most hardened conniseur couldn't tell the difference.
So what? It isn't natural, but it's just as good. Cyanide is natural, too. So is digitalis. Let's not forget smallpox - I'm fairly sure that one's far less synthetic than that tasty substance that just insists is unbelievably buttery.
Organic is nostalgia. It's trying to relive the good old days, before scientists came along and had to analyze everything to death. After all, that whole Victorian butterchurned bloodletting period was known so fabulously for its sophisticated bloodletting techniques. Organic is clinging to long-dead sentiments.
The world is much too cold and much too impersonal to coddle organically. Adapt and survive. Slow down and be run over.
