I love my Boobies!

I'm very proud that I've done so well with breastfeeding. A lot of women give up after only a few weeks or months (if they do it at all). In a way I totally understand the desire to have somebody else be able to care for the baby in that way, but it's really neat for me to be the only one who can do that for him. Yes, it really sucks not having the freedom to go out and do things without the baby for more than an hour or two, but we've gotten so used to it that it feels really weird to go somewhere without him. Like we're forgetting him or something.

Baby Jack is almost 8 months old. Up to six months, he had nothing but mama milk. Since then, he's tasted various foods and seems to like all of them (except potatoes, he HATED potatoes). Despite a lot of stupid ideas out there about breastfed babies being small or that you can' tbe vegetarian and breastfeed, Jack has always been in the very high percentiles for weight and height. Even now, at 8 months, he's advanced with what he's doing. He's crawling, pulling up to stand, pinching small objects with his fingers, saying "mama" and "dada" on purpose, etc. With all of the weirdo ingredients they put in baby formula, it wouldn't surprise me if breastfed babies tend to be "advanced." Makes sense to me if he's not getting any MSG or other toxins in his food that his brain would work more efficiently.

I still struggle with sleep A LOT, but the past two or three nights have been much much better so I'm hoping that will continue. Even though I complain a lot and all of this has been really very hard, I guess I can take a moment to reflect on all the positives. No health problems, generally happy baby, and the fact that he's the cutest ever doesn't hurt either. Mama loves her little boy.

Since I've pretty much adjusted to the baby-consumed life, I don't see any reason why I wouldn't breastfeed him until he was ready to stop. If that's three years, then that's okay with me. I probably wouldn't want to be breastfeeding him when he starts school, but up until then if he wants mama nums, he can have them.
