Thank you! The upside to the way Tony is being written these days is that I can find canon to justify just about any insane behavior. And then he's oddly sweet.
*thwacks him* (though I'm thwacking Sinister much harder)
Sinister's application is almost up. I may have just spent twenty minutes trying to manipulate the SHIELD logo for a watermark, given up because of Nick Fury being in front of it, and am putting a stylized Eagle on the bottom.
Did you read the recent Millar interview wherein he says that only the others demonized Tony & Reed Richards maybe a bit, HE was writing Tony as the good guy?
Also, am loving all those storylines and reminding myself of rl business not allowing me to take on Agent Brand as a tm pup.
Wow, Millar is just -- it continues to awe me how different what he thinks he's writing is from what gets on the page (ie, in Ultimate Xmen, he does a great job with Colossus and a crappy job with Cyclops, and seems completely convinced it's the other way around).
Anyway -- hate to say I think JMS is the worst offender on the "sudden and random demonization of Tony" front, though for all I know Marvel told him to do it (and he does get some slack for writing the characters so well in the first place). And if there's some followup in the current Spidey storyline, I may be more forgiving. But for now am just head desking the whole thing.
Also, AGENT BRAAAANDDD!!! Cable will totally try to outbid SWORD for her services. Though since I have a feeling Cable's employees are mostly paid in "feelings of moral superiority," I don't see that working on Brand. Not even if he throws in a date with Deadpool (which he'll probably try).
Well, with JMS, you have to consider he wrote Londo starting a war and taunting a Narn about concentration camps and still managed to make Londo the tragic heart of the show and pulled of redemption after. Lemme tell you, during season 2 and 3 genre magazines were making Goebbels comparisons (me, I was going with MacBeth) and most fans were absolutely convinced he'd end up as one of the main villains, if not the main villain.
Brand would give him one of her "moron" looks last used on Peter Rasputin when he attempted to make a joke. Also, what's Cable doing for Earth security from aliens, huh? Nothing! Brand is in it for the cause, which Cable is not serving. Now, if he can get his sister to wipe out the Shi'ar for good....
This is awesome!!

I hadn't even GOTTEN to the part where Cable was going to allow Brand the privilege of sharing a bathroom with his girlfriend and his chief of staff.
(And I think Rachel vs. Shi'ar is the unterminable Uncanny X-men plotline that we are currently ignoring).
