A day in the life of...
Dear Lord! What a freaking chore it is anymore to get things completed through government agencies. I had blocked off my calendar for this morning ( for the second time in two weeks) to get my passport stuff completed. The previous attempt was a bust because the CVS (which is a pharmacy like Eckerds/Walgreens) did not take my pictures correctly, my birthcertificate no longer had the raised bumps from the seal and I did not have a check to pay for the passport because when I had called the clerk of courts, the woman stated they took credit cards. So that ended up being a waste!
So, I thought I would try again this morning because my birth certificate with newly raised seal from Ohio finally arrived. Had the lady at CVS re-take my pictures. Brought my check book and all of the other documentation. And tried the clerk of courts again. I was there by 7:50am. Pictures were wrong again. The girl was apparently getting too close and my head was too big in the picture. It cannot be more than 1 3/8". They suggested going to AAA to get them done, which is clear across town... on a Friday. On top of that, my drivers license did not show my hyphenated last name that I acquired upon marriage. I would need to renew my license before they could process. Isn't that something they could have told me when I was in there two weeks ago?!? Call me crazy. The drivers license place was next door, but you need your marriage certificate in order for them to change your name. So, I had drive all the way home and grab the marriage certificate. Drive downtown to AAA to get my passport photos taken for the third time (this time correctly though and they look pretty good)! Drive back to the drivers bureau and get my license renewed with my hyphenated name. Walk next door and FINALLY (Yes, it finally happened) submit my application for an expedited passport!
Whew! Too bad its only lunchtime here and I'm at work... I could surely use a nice glass of wine! Or a shot of jagger! Something! And you better believe that woman at CVS is going to get a mouthful this evening! How hard is it to take a fucking picture?!?
