CHARACTER NAME: Sue Storm || Invisible Woman
FANDOM: Marvel-1610 (Ultimate Fantastic Four)
CHRONOLOGY: Issue #49 -- after Sue is rescued from Red Ghost and breaks up with Reed in order to "find herself".
CLASS: Hero
SUPERHERO NAME: Invisible Woman
ALTER EGO: Sue Storm, Bio-Chemical Scientist

BACKGROUND:

The Baxter Building, in the Ultimate-verse, is government research lab located in New York City. As the oldest child of Dr. Franklin Storm, Sue was groomed from a young age to follow her father's path of physics. However, at the age of eight when she tried to build a sugar-power rocket and accidentally destroyed her father's car. With this came the realization that although she was interested in science, she just didn't have the head for physics equations. She changed her focus to biology, "the universe within" and by age nineteen had earned four doctorates in bio-chemical sciences.

During her time in school, Sue found time to get to know-- and start a relationship with-- brilliant fellow student Reed Richards. While testing Reed's N-Zone dimensional teleporter, things went horribly awry for the people at the site-- herself, Victor Van Damme, Reed, Reed's best friend Ben Grimm, and her little brother Johnny Storm. Van Damme had changed Reed's calculations in order to sabotage him and because of this, all five were transported to different places and awoke with superpowers. Sue herself woke up only a few miles away from the testing site in Nevada, only to find that she was being held captive by a Baxter Building disgruntled ex-employee Dr. Arthur Molekevic. He helped her to control her powers but also sent a monster to the Baxter Building (which he was monitoring) to get Reed, Johnny, and Ben. Molekevic planned to "help" the three with their powers but wanted to keep them captive indefinitely. While using their new found powers to help them escape, Sue discovered that not only could she become invisible but she could also use force fields to shield her team from danger or make them float.

Upon returning home, Sue diligently worked to fully investigate her teams new abilities and chart their powers in an attempt to figure out their natures and how they could control them or get rid of them. She managed to figure out the nature of both Reed and Johnny's changes, though she still calls her power "the greatest scientific puzzle" and was unable to penetrate Ben's skin enough detail to get a definite answer. During this time, Sue also worked on perfecting her force field power but soon found out that extreme usage would lead to physical side effects such as nosebleeds or vomiting.

The adventures of the Fantastic Four after this could be put into one neat little package as: "Reed plays with science; Reed overestimates his skills and breaks the universe and Manhattan; The Fantastic Four have to go fix it." The first of their adventures starts with, of course, revenge. Victor Van Damme tries-- and almost succeeds-- in taking over Reed's body so that he could have his life. Next, Reed tries to venture into the N-Zone and ends up meeting the alien Nihil who wants to take over the universe because his own universe is experience heat death. After they managed to escape from that, Rhona Burchill, who had a vendetta against Reed for being accepted to the Baxter Building instead of him, kidnapped them and plotted to destroy them all. Reed manages to get everyone free but soon meets with a future version of himself who informs him that yay, he's going to get a happy ending with Sue. Sadly, falling into the trap of Zombie!Reed, he goes into the Zombie!World only to find out that he supposed to be their next meal. There is a trend of "Fantastic Four never catches a break or gets a vacation" here. After the FF captures their Zombie counterparts, they have to battle Gallowglass (an alien who is as strong as Thor), Diablo, a sorcerer from the past, Silver Surfer, who wants to turn everyone on earth happy except with different personalities, and finally battle Red Ghost.

Although Reed is often the main focus of these plots, Sue's powers often save the day as the FF's last resort. However, she does often feel that compared to Reed's genius her own goals are lacking and so, after being rescued from Red Ghost (who wants her invisibility powers for itself and thus, kidnapped her), Sue breaks up with Reed in order to focus on her own scientific studies (not to mention Reed ignored Sue for about three weeks prior to this and was a complete jerk because he was too obsessed with her work.)

PERSONALITY:

Sue Storm is kind and mature, always looking out for her teammates (especially her little brother who is not quite as smart as the rest of them). She is often the one to break up fights between the boys and offers logical, calm advice in almost all situations. For the most part, her temper is even and she has the mindset of a scientist: calculating, precise, but never losing sight of the fact that human nature changes sciences daily. When it comes to her boyfriend, though, Sue's more playful side comes out such as promising to make out with him as soon as he let her use her "warm little" bioscanner on him or saying, "Hey, babe. You scan me for plague-bearing parasites and I'll scan you." Reed also has the tendency to make Susan the angriest out of everyone due to his lack of attention or forays into dangerous activities without consulting her. Namor also tends to get violent reactions out of Susan (she actually called him a jackass and threw him into a car with her powers), probably due to the underlying chemistry between the two. But they don't talk about that, especially not when Reed's around. Her brother and Reed share responsibility for making her annoyed on a daily basis-- Johnny because he does ridiculous things like name a space shuttle "The Awesome" and Reed because he locks himself in his lab for days on end.

Even as a baby, as noted by her scientist parents, Sue was very preoccupied with a heart monitor, foreshadowing her future career as a biologist. Having grown up in the Baxter Building, away from public schools and going out with friends, Sue is a little isolated from people who aren't scientists, teammates or superheroes. It's rare to see her go out and have fun, if ever, as Reed and Sue's idea of a good time is hanging out in the lab and working on projects. She and her father are very close-- although he is ready to sacrifice everything for science, the thought of his children dying send him into a frenzy almost daily. In a most adorable manner, he tries to punish Sue and send her to her room (away from boys, aka Reed) in order to stop her from doing anything dangerous.

Although she looks calm on the surface, Sue is very passionate about her work and is still rather young. Her emotions do sometimes get the best of her, especially when it comes to relationships with other people. Reed's inattentiveness to her can cause her to throw tantrums, though she is quick to get over them. She also worries about pulling her weight on the team, especially next to Reed who is probably the smartest person on earth. Because of this, Sue often over strains herself with her powers (not only to prove that she can but to save her teammates) which causes physical damage to her body. Some examples of this are vomiting and nosebleed but in severe cases, she can lapse into a coma.

In short, long walks on the beach are not this girl's idea of romance-- she would much rather look at your insides with her bioscanner. Being in the city is a great opportunityfor Sue to work on what interests her most-- what makes superheros tick.

POWER:
-Invisibility
-Ability to project invisible force fields

BODY FLUIDS: NORMAL
WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT: NORMAL
ORGAN FUNCTION: NORMAL
RESPIRATORY FUNCTIONS: NORMAL
DIGESTIVE FUNCTIONS: NORMAL
...

Notes:

Subject extremely hesitant to go under bioscanner, possibly due to past psychological trauma. Proceeded with due caution.

Powers given upon being "ported into the city." Powers of location classified as "a weird tingly feeling of just KNOWING." However, only a centralized location of one Tony Stark. Powers do not seem to have any function or use. Bioscan readings show no abnormalities. (??)

Nature of powers still unknown.

I have to say that I am ridiculously intrigued by this city. It makes no sense why we are all here like this but to be given powers when you original had none? There has to be a reason for this. Where did the powers come from? Who gave them to you?

And why do some of them seem to have no functional use at all??? (Sorry, Pepper.)

Now I'm starting to understand how Reed can lock himself up in a lab for a week, caught up in his work. There's so much unexplained, so many resources untapped. Finding out the origin of your powers could be the key to figuring out how to go home.

If anyone needs me, I'll be in my lab for the next ten years trying to figure this all out. It's not the Baxter Building but it'll do.

LOGS POST (THIRD PERSON) SAMPLE:

Sue walked along the streets of midtown, stopping in front of an empty parking lot. It was snowing today and with the backdrop of the city and the surreal, dream-like state she was in, she seemed to be trapped in a snow globe. In her world, the Baxter Building stood proudly in this spot. The place that she had grown up in was nothing but a fading memory in her mind. The proud look of her father when she blew up his car with her sugar bomb. Her baby brother learning to walk. Her first kiss with Reed. Each moment seemed distant and far away but heartrendingly familiar.

The City had that effect on people; everything that you had known was quietly ghosted out of your mind as though it had never happened at all. She wondered about the life that she had lived before this. She wondered what her fate would be.

Time was a concept Sue understood well enough. There were seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years. She wasn't fond of numbers, figures, and equations like Reed was. They were abstract, something she couldn't touch, couldn't look at, couldn't comprehend. They were nothing like a live pulse under her finger tips, a heartbeat on a monitor or the blurry picture of a sonogram. But here she was, a victim of time. Her life had been put on pause-- but for how long?

Ever the optimist, Sue decided she would put her powers to good use. Maybe she was brought here for a reason. Maybe she could help the people of the city, crack the delicate code that seemed to mystify even the greatest of minds. A darker part of her, a secret part, was almost glad she was brought here. Here she had a purpose.

In this mysterious city, Sue Storm was not part of the Fantastic Four. She was not the daughter of a great scientist, a public figure, a beacon of hope and justice. She was only herself. And she hoped that would be enough.
