We only have a few more hours left before the Capitals are back on the ice for regular season play... in the meantime, here are last night's scores.
* In a surprise - at least to me - victory, the
Toronto Maple Leafs beat the
defending Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings, with a final score of 3-2. Go Leafs! The Leafs had 3 penalties, and the Red Wings 2, in a nice, clean hockey game... if that isn't a contradiction in terms!
Here is the game summary.
* The
Boston Bruins beat the
Colorado Avalanche in the last three minutes of the game, with a final score of 5-4. The game had been very close throughout, with neither team distancing itself by more than one goal at any time, and usually got tied back up fairly quickly, but the Avalanche could not come back to tie it again before the end of the game. Despite the late hour, I swore most vehemently over this one... 5 penalties to the Bruins, 2 to the Avalanche, and I need to look up "boarding"...
Here is the game summary.
* The
San Jose Sharks were victorious over the
Anaheim Ducks (does anyone else think that's a stupid name for a hockey team, even if it was founded by The Walt Disney Company?!), with a final score of 4-1; the Ducks scored (finally) at 14:35 in the third, after I'd gone to bed last night. 7 penalties to the Ducks, only 2 to the Sharks.
Here is the game summary.
* And finally, the
Vancouver Canucks positively spanked the
Calgary Flames, 6-0 in a game with a total of 19 penalties (11 to the Flames, 8 to the Canucks).
Here is the game summary.
Just a few more hours to go before the Caps game...! I can't WAIT!!!
