I had forgotten how deeply in love I am with Incubus and every single member of the band.
I am already entering the mini depression stage I go through at the end of a tour. When I know I won't be able to see them for god knows how long. And therefore will not be that happy again for god knows how long. *tear* This sucks.
But I digress.
Tuesday's show in Champaign. I had to haul major ass down there cause I didn't get off work til 5. So I went anywhere in the range of 80-95 the entire drive. I got there and by the grace of god it was still intermission. And the floor was so small and full of freshmen and high school kids so I was actually able to push my way over to Lauren on the guard rail. And literally the second I got to her and grabbed hold of the rail, the lights went down and they came onstage. Someone up there loves me. So yeah. Obviously it was amazing. But the crowd was lame. And it wasn't one of the best shows I've seen them do. Setlist according to IO:
Pistola / Nice To Know You / Idiot Box / Wish You Were Here / Just A Phase / Stellar W/ Police Cover / Make Yourself / Here In My Room / Drive Remix / Bump And Grind (R. Kelly Cover) / Priceless / Vitamin - Drum Jam / Everything In Ebb / Talk Shows On Mute / Made For TV Movie / Sick Sad Little World / Megalomaniac // Circles / Under My Umbrella
I had never heard Under My Umbrella played live before so that was sweet. And the cover of Bump and Grind cracked me up cause Brandon just started singing, "Michael! I don't know the words to this song!" and Mikey just laughed. And of course Mikey killed the SSLW solo. And I love the Police cover in Stellar. I never want to hear Made for TV Movie live again though. Its a boring live song. And they could fill that void with a better song. But yeah, so overall, it was Incubus so I loved it, but I've seen better.
Now yesterday in DeKalb - TONS better. Setlist according to IO again:
Pistola / Nice To Know You / Idiot Box / Wish You Were Here / Just A Phase / Stellar w/Police Cover/ Make Yourself / Here In My Room / Drive Remix / Priceless / Vitamin w/drum solo / Everything In Ebb / Talk Shows On Mute / Anti-Gravity Love Song!! (with Bump 'n Grind in the middle) / Sick Sad Little World/ Megalomaniac // The Warmth / Under My Umbrella
Ok I would like to point out two things:
First and foremost - ANTI-GRAVITY FUCKING LOVE SONG.
I.
DIED.
Un-fucking-believable. I was so psyched. I had been hoping for Favorite Things, but this was equally as good.
#2- The Warmth. One of my all time favorite Incubus songs. Me and the guy next to me lost it. He'd been yelling for it the whole show. Such an incredible song, especially live. I came close to crying. I remember when they came out for the encore thinking, this show would be fucking perfect if they played the Warmth right now. And then it started and I was like, THANK YOU. God I love them. And then UMU again. Rockin. So yes, I would have to say it was a much better show than Champaign. I am in love with Ben Kenney officially. During Jose's drum solo (which btw was amazing) he came out, rubbed his hands on his shirt and then grabbed Jose and much have static electricity shocked him cause Jose stopped playing and turned around like what the fuck. And Ben laughed his ass off. And then later Jose did the same thing to him and he fell down and just laid there on the floor laughing and playing. I love him. And I'm still madly in love with Brandon and Mikey. Brandon kept a shirt on the entire show and I love him for it. Fuck you teeney bopper girls. And he had suspenders on. Love. And the solo on SSLW gets better every time. Mikey = love. He's amazing. And once again, I touched a pick Ben threw out and the idiot stoners behind me got it. Whatever. I suck. So yes, of course an amazing experience as always. I want to go back right now.
And I just found out that they were at Indiana University on Sunday! I would have gone! AND- the worst part of all - they played TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER. FUCK. I would DIE to hear that song. And the encore:
Pantomime / When Doves Cry (Prince Cover) / A Crow Left Of The Murder
Thats awesome. Now I am mad. Oh well, such is life. I need to start going to the Indiana shows though cause it seems like they get all the old school songs. And I always miss it.
Well I am still in DeKalb and Laura is at work and I am being a big lazy ass waste of space using her comp and eating her food. So I suppose I should go now.
And Kell, I am seriously sorry for not getting in touch with you, I'm calling you right now.
I miss Incubus already. You all have no idea.
