It takes some time until Fëanor even manages to convince Irmo that it was not him who killed Basil. Irmo is rather prejudiced there. When he finally believes that somebody else was the murderer - which is after he has seen the neck-wound and the lack of blood, which is, as far as he knows, not the kind of killing blow Fëanor would deliver - he reluctantly agrees to take care of Basil's mortal remains until his soul returns to his body, if that is going to happen. So, Basil, you just got yourself a vacation in Lórien. Which you would probably enjoy if you were alive. Except you wouldn't get here alive. Alas, a dilemma.
