Yuletide! I haven't read many stories, because the archive isn't letting me, but I have finally manage to read the two (2!) wonderful stories I was lucky enough to receive. They're both for Downton Abbey, and they're both amazing!
What Didn't Happen to Edith is a brilliant study of one of the most interesting characters in the show, and the life she could have had if she had made different choices. I'm in awe of the language in this fic, it captures the era perfectly.
Patience Is A Virtue is a magnificent read about four fascinating women, and it seamlessly weaves their stories together, and shows how the war changed a lot of things, and how other things remained exactly the same. It also has a delicious hint of femslash that I loved so much.
Just, go read both! At once! Even if you don't know the fandom.
