this has been an interesting week or so

I took the GRE today, and did alright. Verbal stunk compared to how I did in the practice exams, but I did better in math than I thought (which mind you is still stinky, but not failingly so).

The week leading up to today though was a wee bit rocky. I gave myself slightly more than a week to study for the GRE, i figured I just had a day or two of catching up to do in math and I would be peachy keen. I also didn't expect my scores to matter much because I had two professors lined up to write me letters of recommendation that would get me in practically anywhere. So I wasn't worried. Until I started practicing the math. I overestimatd my abilities, to say the least. It was humbling. But I'm like, meh, I feel stupid but it's ok, most grad schools put more emphasis on the letters anway.
Only, I hadn't heard back from either professor recently so I did some research as to their whereabouts. I am pretty sure Nicole is caring for her mom (who has cancer) and taking care of her family. I wish her the best, she is in a tough situation, (but it was bad timing for my letter :-P). The second, Eric, I think is somewhere else right now, he is not teaching any classes this quarter. He hasn't gotten back to me yet so I assume he is in Africa (he teaches abroad). So... now here I am with a mediocre GRE score and no letters of rec. Up until a week ago I thought I could get in anywhere. Now I am just hoping against all odds to get in *somewhere.*
Starting monday I am going to accost random professors in hallways and ask if they would be capable of writing a good letter for me. I figure it'll take a few tries, as I haven't gotten close to any other professors. And in psych, getting an 'A' in class isn't exactly difficult. So, wish me luck. At least step one of this process is over. And if you happen to know any professors that are willing to write a bunch of BS give me a ding, i'd be happy to meet them.

Otherwise, life is good! It's still sunny here, but cooling down which is nice. It's in that month or so of truly good weather before the rain hits. Except, I like rain, so that's ok. alright, nap time
