Beginnings aren't always beautiful. If Pansy was truthful, sometimes, they were terrible. That was the way it was when she first saw the Weasel's brother. Not one of those Merlin forsaken twins, or even the scarred one, nor the pompous one who acted as though he was in fact not a Weasley.
No. It was none of those scrawny little bastards. She felt no love for the Weasleys. None of them.
But she felt something for the second oldest. Lust, maybe. Definitely not love. And she refused to call it love, or even think of the possibility that she could be falling in love.
Charlie Weasley. He wasn't scrawny, and nor was he extremely tall. He was a stocky bloke, freckly, but if Pansy was truthful, those freckles were cute. He was so muscular and strong that Pansy envied for Draco, because the boy was still as skinny as a stick.
"What are you looking at Parkinson?" he growled.
She jumped. "Nothing, Weasley," she snarled. "Are you going to teach me the ropes?"
He shook his head. "Weren't you watching?"
She batted her eyelashes innocently. "I wasn't listening. Could you help me?"
Was it just her or did she sound like she was flirting? No way.
He sighed, not seeming to notice the way she'd said the words. He stepped behind her and wrapped his arms around her, reaching for the rope she had in her hand.
He'd been teaching her knots, something she'd need if she was going to be working with the dragons.
When his musky scent surrounded her, she almost sighed and snuggled closer to him. He put his hands over hers and helped her tie the rope into different loops.
And then he stopped. She looked up at him questionably. He stared back at her with beautiful blue eyes. And then he lowered his head to hers.
Beginnings weren't all that bad, Pansy decided.
