It's my half-birthday!
Remember in elementary school when you would bring in baked goods on your birthday, or the class would sing to you? Well, mine is in the summer, so, to keep some kind of normalcy in my life (well done Mother) my mom and I would always make cookies or something to bring in on my HALF-BIRTHDAY. And we being the clever ladies that we are would make half of something - cookies like half-moons, or half a heart or something.
Anyways, I used to get so excited on my half-birthday, also, because between the ages of 2 and 12, being a "half" is a pretty big deal. And I feel that way again - I'm 50% 20, thank god, cause being a teenager sucks! HUMPH!
I haven't really thought of my half-birthday in a while, but I like it this year, and I wish that I could change the rules so that we all celebrated half-birthdays, and not real birthdays.
I despise my real birthday, cause everybody always forgets it, and only my parents remember and they're always like "your present this year is another year of college." But this is fabulous, see, because nobody knows that it's my half-birthday, but that's okay, they shouldn't! Cause it's not a big deal - and especially this year, cause there's nothing new I can do when I turn 20.
So, if you read this today - at this point of the entry, just say, out loud to yourself "Happy half-birthday Cathy!" and I assure you that I will feel the warm wishes on this cold January day.
And I also urge you to bring your own half-birthday to life, like when you were a kid - cause every little bit counts and should be commended!
