Change of Path.
I found the audition requirements for the different schools I want to go to and was all excited and showed Mom. She had to tell me the cruel truth (cause Dad's a sweetheart and couldn't crush my dreams like that) and made me think of, honestly, I really haven't done much in musical theatre. I've gone to all of two auditions in my life, taken no private lessons, and I can't dance.
She suggested a major in education (since I want to be a teacher) and a minor in theatre. I could be an English teacher and be the drama club advisor and do summer stock and even try Broadway during college. It was a great idea, one that I had never thought of since I was so focused on musical theatre.
I thought that since someone could play, like, four measures of a musical theatre song and I could give the song, show, whether it was the original cast or not, and the actor who sang it meant that I had to go into stictly musical theare. I see now that it isn't as true.
She offered an amazing compromise and I love it so much!!!
