The metaphor of Siddartha sitting in the crux of the roots of a tree for all eternity is not important because he did so, but rather, why he did so. In essence, nirvana is a state of being derived from the ability to make a decision unaffected by both immediate circumstance and prior happening. Completely at peace - not necessarily from war, but rather from all forms of conflict present in Bloom's taxonomy - he is simply allowed to be.
