A few pictures from Halloween:
Verily, she is Torunn, the daughter of mighty Thor! Check out the costume Alex and I made. We are awesome and so is Alice! When she went trick or treating she had little canvas shoes spray painted yellow. She was really adamant that she be able to carry her sword on her back, so I pinned two elastic hair holders on the back of her shirt to hold her foam sword.
Torunn menacing her friend the Black Cat with her magic sword.
Alice's buddy Krista came trick or treating with her. It was fun for her to go with a friend. This is the two of them back at Mistie and Ryan's, bursting with sugar and up till 9:30. Fiona went with us too, but I didn't get a good clear picture of her in her "fish bowl" costume.
One house gave out candy along with a little booklet from a local church. I kind of rolled my eyes at that, but didn't think much of it until we got home and looked at the thing. It was drawn like a comic book with no words so even the youngest children could "read" it. I'll have to scan in some images. The kid in it gets robbed then beaten up by this terrifying man carrying a bottle with X's on it. The man drags the kid's limp boxy across the room and throws him out into the rain. Then the little boy crawls in the rain through a crowd and eventually collapses in a box. A card comes swooping down and lands next to him. It says, "Some one loves you." The kid reads it, then drops the card and lies there with X's over his eyes until an angel comes and carries him up to heaven. It was appalling. Just the kind of thing every kid needs with their Snickers on Halloween.
Oh, and there was an election so inspiring I nearly cried and a vote on an amendment so assanine it makes me doubt I could vomit. An exciting week, eh?
