Wicked!

AN: I adore 'Wicked!' and my favourite song from the soundtrack is 'As Long As You're Mine' which is sung by Elphaba and Fiyero when they admit their feelings for each other. I had to write this because I have had one too many daydreams where I am Elphaba and GDL is Fiyero... plus one of Fiyero's lines in the song is 'Say there's no future for us as a pair...' I knew I HAD to write a Janto fic for this. So I'm putting it under the Gwen-Free post. IJG out.

Ianto had been acting strange lately. He was leaving the hub early and would never say where he had been. Normally Jack wouldn't mind but it was the fact it was Ianto and it was rare for him to finish work before ten. Jack had used every means at his disposal to find out what Ianto was up to but he never got any answers. Ianto was always one step ahead of him. He walked to wherever he went and he took side-streets and alleyways as so not to appear on CCTV and would always switch his phone off. It was beginning to drive Jack mad but what was frustrating was that Jack didn't know why he was feeling this way.

Sure he and Ianto were.... seeing each other but that was it.

Wasn't it?

It was just sex, no emotions envolved.

Right?

Why would he care if Ianto had someone else?

So what if someone else got to hold him, kiss him, make his body theirs, watch him sleep in the middle of the night? He was Captain Jack Harkness, he didn't do monogamy and he certainly DID NOT get jealous. he wasn't feeling jealous. Jealousy is for teenage girls not the handsome immortal leader of a secret organisation. But if he didn't get jealous; then why did it feel like a punch in the balls everytime he thought of Ianto being with someone else...? Jack sighed and looked out of his office. Ianto was listening to eearphones and mouthing along to the words. Jack sighed and walked out of his office and tapped Ianto's shoulder. ianto jumped and stopped the music before removing an earphone.

"Problem Jack?" he asked.

"It's someone else isn't it? That's why you're always disappearing at night." Jack asked being his usual subtle-as-a-bulldozer self.

Ianto sighed and rolled his eyes. He supposed he should tell Jack the truth.

"It's not someone else. I do have a life outside of Torchwood too you know." Ianto replied and returned to his work.

Jack returned to his office and attempted to do some paperwork. as the rift was being quiet, he allowed the team to leave at 5. As they began to leave, an email pinged into Jack's inbox.

If you want to know the truth then be at the New Theatre before 7pm. Tell the ticket woman you're with me and she'll let you in for free. I'll see you there.
Ianto.

At five minutes to seven, Jack sat inside tthe New Theatre. He was confused to say the least. There was a drama group putting on a performance of 'Wicked!' and Ianto was nowhere to be seen and Ianto was never late. Before Jack could text Ianto to ask whatw as going on, the audience were told to switch off their phones as the show started. Jack got absorbed into the storyline which was about Glinda the Good Witch and Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West from the film 'The Wizad of Oz'. About halfway through the first act, a young man appeared onstage who was called Fiyero. Jack felt as if he knew him from somewhere. Then a familiar voice began to sing and realistation hit Jack like a brick to the face.

Ianto was Fiyero!

This had been where he was going to. He was in a musical! Ianto Jones was in a musical! Jack could honestly say he didn't see that on coming. He knew Ianto could sing and had been in some bands when he was a teenager and at university. Showtunes however was a whole other kettle of fish. Jack was even more amazed with Ianto's performance onstage however it was the duet between Ianto and the girl playing Elphaba for the song 'As Long As You're Mine' which made hairs on the back of Jack's neck stand up. It was just like their whole relationship was summed up in that song. They didn't know how long they had, whether it would all end tomorrow or in twenty years. Jack wondered if Ianto was thinking the same, it was the passion in which he delivered the line; "Say there's no future for us as a pair..." that almost had Jack in tears. Not that he would admit it.

Whenever the musical was over, Jack and the audience gave a standing ovation and the cast disappeared offstage. Jack decided to wait outside the theatre for Ianto.

Ianto hadn't inially wanted to do this but when Karen rang him, desperate for his help, he could only agree. The two of them were at the same secondary school and had both taken part in the schools different musicals. In their thrid year, they were extras for 'Oliver!'. In their fifth year he had been Perchik and Karen had been Hodel for 'Fiddler on the Roof.' In their seventh year they were Danny and Sandy for 'Grease'. The school knew theyw ere the perfect double act for any musical. However when highs chool ended, Ianto had went to London to study history and english and Karen had been accepted to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and was now a professional actress. The man who usually played Fiyero in their tour of Wicked was ill and Karen had begged Ianto to step in. ianto agreed for old times sake. When it was over they were corwded backstage having a drink to celebrate as the director came in.

"Excellant performance guys. Ianto, thank you so much for stepping in on short notice." The director said. As they were about to leave, Ianto hugged Karen and they promised to meet up again soon. Outside the theatre, jackw asleaning against the SUV and seemed to be waiting on him.

"You could have just told me." Jack said.

"I wanted to but if you told the others, Owen would never let me hear the end of it." Ianto replied.

"Maybe, it was a nice surprise though. Although I didn't like seeing that girl kiss you." Jack said teasingly.

"Karen? We've been friends for years. She's like a sister to me. Besides her boyfriend is built like a brick outhouse, I wouldn't want to fight him. Besides, I have you." Ianto said hugging Jack.

"Yeah you do," Jack said giving Ianto a kiss and began to drive them home to just how much they needed each other. After all they had no certain future as a pair...
