Guess who's moving out of their parents house? I am I am I am!
Derek and I found a 2br apartment in Groton for $800/month which is totally affordable for both of us. It's huge. We're supposed to move in on May 25th because Derek was supposed to go underway from the 28th to May 24th but now he doesnt have to go anymore (hooray for me :-D ) so we're gonna see if we can move in earlier, like the 19th or so.
If you wanna see what the apartment is gonna look like, heres a link to the complex's webstie from apartments.com. You can find pictures of the building as well as the inside from there. It's just the model apartment but all the apartments look exactly the same, sans furniture of course.
Im super excited. Ive been wanting to leave this godforsaken house for a LONG time and Im finally gonna do it.
As for the fact that Im moving in with Derek, yes Im aware Im dating him. We're both looking at it as we both dont want to live where we're living and we know we can stand being in the same living area with eachother for an extended period of time, so it just makes sense for us to live together. Plus none of his friends are ready to get out of the barracks and none of my friends can afford to move out.
Yesterday my mom told me we needed to clean our room (yes, I share a bedroom with my mother, one of the main reasons why I want to leave) and in the back of my mind I kept thinking "why? Im leaving in less than a month" but I havent told her Im moving out yet. She'll be happy I'll be on my own but she wont like who I'll be on my own with. She didnt even like me going on vacation with him for a week so Im not exactly sure how she's gonna react once I tell her Im gonna be living with him but Im old enough to make my own decisions and if Im not taking any of her money, why should it matter?
I do have to make a couple purchases however. I need a new bureau cause the one I have I dont want to use anymore (too heavy to move and I dont really like it anymore). We're getting a coffee table and a desk (I think a desk, i dont remember) from his CO (maybe his CO, I dont remember what guy) for $50 and they're both brand new, cost him $400 or so to buy but he's getting relocated and he cant take it with him so it was either sell it really cheap quickly to someone who needs it or throw it away and since he knew Derek was moving out, he asked and Derek said we'll take it. Im hopefully gonna buy our kitchen table from my grandma (we have one in our basement that we're not using) so we'll need chairs. And we're gonna buy a futon so it's a couch and when his/my friends stay the night (which is looking like its gonna be quite often), they'll have somewhere to sleep. I'll probably sleep in Derek's room a lot cause he's got a tempurpedic bed which is uber comfy and its a queen sized bed and I LOVE big beds so my bed will be another place for people to sleep. Ikea also has this like futon-armchair kinda thing that is neat maybe look into buying that. In any case I'll wanna buy a recliner cause I love sitting in reclining chairs. But that'll be down the line after we buy the sofa/futon/whatever.
Ummm so I think thats everything for now. Oh I got screwed again with my Ultrasound prerequisite requirements so I have to put that on hold yet another year so fall 06 I need to take 15 credits in New Haven which is an hour away as well as working 40 hours a week full time and then spring 07 I dont have to take any classes then fall 07 i'll start ultrasound and be done spring 09. Damn, sucks. Ironic thing is that if I stayed in Pharmacy, I'd be graduating in 09 from a 6 year school instead of ultrasound from a 2 year school. Yeah, Im a loser I guess.
