Winter In Late March

Mar 24, 2018 13:23

Winter in late March?
I’m glad I’m not on
The St. Louis arch.
It’s windy here today,
The sun doesn’t want-
To come out to play.

I wouldn’t want to go for a walk,
Or attempt to make pictures-
On concrete,
In chalk.
I’d get blown down,
Too the ground.

Of all the days to be cold,
In Illinois-
This isn’t untold.
Illinois weather is weird,
Winter wants,
To be revered.

I want spring,
Is that too much to ask?
Mother Nature,
What are you doing?
I hope this cold blast,
Somewhat cold, anyway-
Doesn’t last.

My ankle hurts,
The right one-
That had a bone put into it from my hip,
The pain comes in spurts.
When crazy weather comes,
I don’t want to chance going out,
Don’t want to get blown away,
Even on ice,
Slip.

Talked to my mom,
About Easter weekend,
Planning lunch together-
Time to spend.
Told her about the windy weather,
“Here, too,” she said,
I don’t think,
She wanted to-
Get out of bed.

She told me of snow,
Flurries,
Heck, no.
Will winter ever leave?
It’s supposed to be spring,
Mother Nature,
Is trying to deceive.
