Twas The Friday Before Christmas

Dec 22, 2017 09:44

Twas the Friday before Christmas,
When all through Deer Path-
Not a resident was angry,
There was no wrath.

The stockings were draped-
On the wall with care,
Because we all knew-
Santa would be here.

Sean on the computer-
And I in bed,
Had settled our brains,
Hibernation ahead.

Each resident tucked in bed,
With dreams of Christmas wishes-
Dancing in their head.

When out in the hall-
There was much chatter,
I flew off my chair-
To check the matter.

Away to the door,
I ran in a flash-
Cracked it open,
Making a mad dash.

The lights in the hall,
Gave a weird glow-
To people passing below.

When what my wondering eyes
Should see,
But a goofy elf-
Staring at me.

With footsteps so quick,
Could it be Sean Keffer “Nick”?

Faster than lightning,
His followers came-
He called them by name.
“Now, Piuza, now Ed, now JoJo, now Maureen,
On Kelli, on Phil, on Jill-
Even Maureen.
To the stairs,
To the door-
Need I say more?
Now hit the floor.

Like high winds blow,
Even an obstacle to show-
To the top floor,
They all zoomed-
With a sack of gifts,
Headed for each room.

Then, a sound up top,
I heard the footsteps stop.
What came next,
Had me perplexed.
Keffer Claus covered in dirt,
From shoes to shirt.

Knocking on each door,
Passing out gifts galore.
His belly rumbled as he laughed,
Like an earthquake and a half.

Quick is how he did his work,
Then turned with a jerk.
To the door he ran-
Out of sight,
Behind the trash can.
As he left,
He said-
While fleeing out of sight,
“A joyous Christmas to all,
Have a good night.”
