There is something about the start of a calendar period that encourages one to actually start something. So, too, does this day for our household. This day is the start of a general organization month whereby we catch up on the housework and other tasks that have accumulated through sloth and disinterest these last couple of years. We're not of the naive opinion that we'll be able to address it all and be able to do so in only a month but making the commitment to do so is a good start.
There was a movie called the Bucket List where two men put together a list of things they wanted to do before "kicking the bucket". We've decided to use a modified version of that. We're starting with the Shot Glass List and then work our way to the Measuring Cup List. Once past the Bucket List, we'll have the Water Tank List and then the Lake Superior List followed, of course, by the Europa World Ocean List.
Anyway, Samira's off at camp (hi, Lee!) with Mike. They hadn't been together for quality time for a while so I decided to give her the time. I'm getting my own present, though, as I've got viewing ticket to see the Shuttle launch next month. The travel arrangement are all made with rooms in Orlando as hotel rooms in major chains were booked solid. Even though it's a bit of a haul, this allows me a certain level of flexibility in the event that the launch is delayed a day.
I had thought to head down to Key West afterward but at six hours from Orlando, I'm just not going to fit it in. Instead, I'll probably hit one of the tourist sites like Universal Studios or Disney World. Of course, I could get lucky and hook up with somebody from camp or the conventions who can show me what's really interesting other than the usual tourist stuff.
