I almost feel guilty posting this after reading Lisa's last note. We have the most wonderful forum for the performing arts within a few miles of home. A small Univ of WI campus just south of us has an auditorium that is a first class facility, and hosts national and international artists of the highest quality. We've seen broadway plays with the New York cast; celebrities such as John Astin in Edgar Allen Poe, and Hal Holbrook as Mark Twain; recording artists performing every conceivable style of music, all famous in their respective categories; Russian ballet companies, Chinese acrobats, and on and on. Because these performers come to the university and put on workshops for the students, part of their fees are underwritten by state funds and the ticket prices have never been over $30 apiece. Many of these groups go on to the larger cities in the area and command prices in excess of $100 for the exact same performance we see.
I guess that makes us pretty fortunate.
