Humans are like animals.

We evolved from these somber species. We changed form by becoming taller and bigger. We were left naked - exposed to the twirling air that punctures our delicate skin.

They say we developed a bigger brain. We use our brains to think, to develop, to adapt and even to destroy. We have changed so much in so many years but we still remain the same apes we were centuries long past.

We are still like animals.

We rely on our instinct - the most basic animals instinct, that is, to eat. We eat to digest. We digest only to survive. We gulf on almost everything our gentle fingers touch. Our hands become the clutch of invisible blood - of unmassable pain and horror. The devastation is silent, conceived within our own prison. We do not feel pain because we have no use for it. We are trapped by the instinct to feed expressed by our so called "thinking" bodies. We become the slaves of our own selves.

Mother Nature had created the human irony. We hate but we love. We create but we destroy. We nourish in splendor but we suffer from entity. How long do we run in so much figures of speech. Why are we trapped beneath the silver bullet of sanity. Why do we live just to live?

What more have we done to gain our position as beings of intellectual superiority? None. We destroy when we want to. When someone goes up, we pull him down. When someone goes down, we stomp on him, crushing his form. Limb to limb. Bone to bone. Dust to dust.

We lead wars but we never truly end them. We value life - so much that we tend to blow ourselves up. It's basic combustion. Maybe it's because we have never learned to be our true selves.

We are still captives - our hands are tied and feet shackled to the cold cement floor. We yearn to be free but we end up running in circles - feeding, hunting, completing the cycle of the animal. We are all animals. We grew a brain - only to benefit our consumption.

Darwin was blind. He was a loquacious mammal who talked about evolution. But, should he had seen - that we are still the apes we were meant to be?

We eat to live until death finally consumes us. Everytime we grow older, we only learn how to become more hungry. What is it we hunger for? Food? Wealth? Luxury? Even Power? Humans have gained every single one of these. Humans even had the priveledge to all of these.

Humanity is never satisfied.

Maybe all we ever needed was to be free. All we ever hungered for was to release ourselves from those dungeons Mother Earth had imprisoned us from the very dawn of her creation and ours. Maybe freedom is the food our souls have been looking for.

And maybe, just maybe, humans were never animals to begin with.
