Battle Royale

Wow. After ten effing years, I'm finally done reading this book. I bought it from my dear friendnobeansprout last December and immediately read it the moment I arrived home from that meet up. I had to stop reading because of my stressful school schedule (imagine going to school from Monday to Sunday o_o) and I actually resumed reading but had to stop again because of my licensure exam review. I finally got the chance to read it just last month and had to start from the very first chapter just so I could recall the events and remember the names of the characters. I was actually 97% done reading it but I refused to read the last few chapters because I don't want to let it go just yet because I don't have a new book to read just yet. Ahaha. But the other day, I finally finished it.

Warning: If you haven't read the book or you're planning to read it, I advise you to not read the content under the cut to avoid spoilers. 8D

I find the premise of Battle Royale quite interesting, which is why I chose to buy this book. There are so many characters and each of them had their own stories to tell, like how Kiriyama Kazuo turned out to be an emotionless, ruthless antagonist and how Mitsuko Souma "abandoned all hope and love" because of the incidents during her childhood.

My favorite characters are Nanahara Shuya, Kawada Shogo, Chigusa Takako, Tsukioka Sho and Mimura Shinji, whereas my least favorite characters are Nakagawa Noriko and Sakaki Yuko. When it comes to favorite battles, I choose the one between Takako and Niida Kazushi and the one between Shuya, Shogo and Noriko vs. Kazuo.

It's a bit sad that Shogo had to die. And that Shuya ended up with Noriko. Yeah, I'm that bad. Ahaha.

The translator did a very good job in translating (duh!) the book although there are some (actually, very very few) errors in spelling, and some missing words and there was one instance that Shuya made an appearance in Shinji's chapter (lol). But overall, it's a good read.
Now that I'm done reading the book, I might as well read the manga. As for the movie version, I will watch it if time permits since Dragonica consumes 80% of my computer time.

Also, I need a new book to read. Any recommendations? :3
