We finished the kitty tree! YAY! We delivered it to my mom's in Robert's pickup yesterday and then covered it with a bunch of blankets so the cats won't get at it before we unveil the surprise on Christmas Eve. It's way cool... I'll post pictures.
I've been unbelievably busy the last two weeks! My mom and I baked SO MANY Christmas cookies... and gave them to people, and everyone was delighted. I guess baking cookies isn't really difficult, but when you bake twelve batches (six different kinds, some of each vegan and some not), make your own gluten-free flour mix and vegan egg replacer, have two people working on two batches of cookies simultaneously in one tiny kitchen with one electric mixer, must keep all non-vegan ingredients segregated from the vegan ingredients to avoid contamination, alter recipes to accomodate dietary restrictions, juggle twelve billion different ingredients for each different cookie, and formulate one's own recipe to simulate and replace meltable butterscotch chips (took me six tries) and then make them vegan, it's hard. But we did it! And they turned out quite well. Except for one, which turned out quite flat, but eh (the one with the homemade butterscotch fudge, but I don't think that's what failed). Five out of six ain't bad.
And I worked. So freakin much.
I did so much shopping. I'm in such debt. I wish I didn't have so many family members. *sigh* I'm always the crappy gift-giver.
But at least my cats have an awesome present.
In the next few days, I still have to:
- bake pumpkin bread
- make a quiche
- bake a carrot cake
- make chili
- make cornbread
- bake cranberry muffins
- wrap everything
- work
- look at Christmas lights
- grocery shop
- haul stuff to my mom's
But hey. This is a light load, really, compared to what I've been up to.
