Eat Pray Love
by Elizabeth Gilbert
Autobiography/Spiritual
Rating - A
After a failed marriage, destructive divorce and a toxic love affair, Liz decides to take a year for herself. Spending time in Italy, India, and Indonesia, to try and piece back her life, but also become closer to God.
This was a great book. I'm usually not for autobiographies, but this read like a fiction novel. Elizabeth Gilbert is an excellent writer, I really enjoyed how she described her year.
She spends 4 months in each place, seeing herself, the universe and God for the first time without distraction. In Italy she learns about indulgence and the pleasures in life (well, mostly in food). In India, she learns about sacrifice and discipline. Lastly, in Indonesia, she learns to take both and figure out how to balance her life.
It's a great read, about a women who goes from broken and searching, to confident and found. I highly recommend this to anyone! It's inspiring and uplifting.
