Yesterday was challenging.
It was an extremely barfy day, to begin with, which made the whole day difficult. Then my drunken camel lost a hoof (translation: my car had a fatal flat tire) that I discovered when I was trying to leave the office for work. I called a tow truck, but they would only accept cash, $60 flat fee. I had $20 in my pocket. One of the attorneys I work with loaned me the other $40 and will be willing to wait for reimbursement until Monday, which was very nice of him. I got towed to Discount Tire, where I learned that not only were all four tires bald and bad, they were the wrong size for the camel in the first place. I had to replace all of them.
$600 and four new hooves later, my camel and I went out to grab some black beans at Qdoba, since black beans have dependably stayed in my stomach in the past. Not so yesterday. By the time I got back to work, I was having more barfing "fun", which was highlighted by the custodian coming into the bathroom while I was having the loudest and nastiest moment of the day's festivities. Totally embarrassing.
I got home and watched the Red Wings hockey game, and once again they didn't bother showing up to play until the second period. They needed the win to stay in the playoff hunt, and, yesterday being what it was, they lost. It was an Original Six game, though, so that was fun.
Then I PM'd my sis and heard all the dirt about the cluster fuck that is Jacksonville. I am so glad I'm up here and Dad and Eva are down there, because I would seriously murder them both at this point. Everything my sister is going through has been made 10 times worse by the addition of Eva and her "special" family complications. It's not my story to tell, so I won't be adding any details, but suffice it to say that the sooner my sis and her animals make their escape to a different domicile, the sooner I'll stop waiting to receive a bad call from the Jacksonville PD.
In other news, I'm doing another editing pass on part one of The Four Powers, and contrary to all of my normal behavior, I still like it and haven't wanted to take a lighter to it, even though my gastric issues have prevented me from taking my psych meds for over a month. (Also shocking is the fact that despite being essentially unmedicated, I'm keeping my shit together really well.)
The narrator who was going to record Nightchild stopped communicating with me and fell off the face of the earth, so with ACX's blessing, I ditched the contract and have started sending offers to random voice talent. The first narrator I sent an offer to actually responded with a prompt and polite declination via e-mail, citing subject matter as the reason. I can totally respect that, and I appreciate her prompt response. It's nice to not be ignored, y'know?
So, that's me. How are all of you?
