Nargles, Otakon, retail sucks a nut. (now with actual retail content!)

I don't think I'm doing Belldandy after all; the blue I found was a jersey knit and I am lazy, and sewing stretchy jersey is just about akin to my personal idea of hell. (I saw 6am yesterday, so I suppose that would be why EVERYTHING totally seemed like a good idea. Now there's fabric all over the floor from rummaging about in the attic; still haven't located my new corset pattern yet, though, which is aggravating.)

Egads. Whatever is in the vanilla coffee at Joe Muggs, I never want again. Had a cup right before the end of my shift, and spent the entire night thinking I was going to have heart failure (I have never had a reaction to caffeine that badly before; it was two fucking cups of coffee.) So I stayed up all night making cracky Seifer/Rinoa mixes with divergent (hers is here). Got off my shift last night, passed out nearly as soon as I got home at 7:30, and didn't really wake up until my alarm went off at 9:30 this morning.

Because Rachel managed to show up before the store was supposed to open (for once! :D), I sat in the back room for a few minutes and called my bank about the overdraft charge. They know I am meticulous about staying over a nonexistent balance (I seriously normally only have a dollar or so in that account, because it's just easier to carry cash and I don't feel inclined to abuse my card that way); the guy I talked to listened to my bitching about a seventeen-cent overdraft, and the fact that they gave me NO 24-hour grace period like they're supposed to, to fix overdrafts. He went in, removed the charge, and credited the 35$ back to my account, which means that whenever my account fixes itself, (1-2 business days!) I can register for Otakon and have that off my mind. I scrimped and stretched the hell out of this check to be able to do that, and when I register, I'm only going to have four or five dollars for the next week and a half. Not a big deal. Survived on less.

I also finally applied (again) for direct deposit at work, since payday falls on the Friday of Otakon! Hopefully it goes through this time; Rachel's calling HR in a few days to make sure it's gone through. This makes my worries about that con so much less stressful. I know there's a Chevy Chase ATM in the food court right across from the con, and maybe this year I won't have to go through the whole convention on 40$ (which is what I did last year).

(...I also just noticed that I was going to post this into my writing journal. ROCK ON.)

Edits!

Work yesterday was total hell; I went in on three hours' sleep, which was quite terrible, but was feeling too sick from that coffee the day prior to even want to consider getting some. Ended up with a pretzel and some ice water, and felt a little bit better. Much, much later in my shift I walked down to Starbucks on the other end of the mall for some FREE ICED COFFEE (protip, between 11-12pm and 3pm-7pm every day for a month, they're giving away free tall iced coffees; all you have to do is ask for one.) Discovered my actual personal hell on the way: between the Kenneth Cole store and Starbucks, there were at least thirty kids in strollers, all crying and screaming. ALL OF THEM. I am not kidding. I wanted to shoot myself. Each day at Arundel Mills, I am remind as to why I really just hate children, and why I hate the patrons of that mall even more. TAKE CARE OF YOUR DAMN KIDS. PROTIP: SCREAMING AT THEM AND SCARING THE SHIT OUT OF THEM DOESN'T FIX ANYTHING.

Anyhoo, Rachel and I were just hanging around the store when a bunch of Muslim women walked in (this sounds like the terrible set up to a joke, I know). They were all very polite, really, but one woman apparently reached up on the top shelf of our sales rack, pulled down an almond lotion, and dropped it in her bag. Because I didn't see it and Rachel was the only one that did, the only way we were allowed to call her out on it was if we saw the lotion in her bag. Rachel couldn't see it, and nor could I, so now we're down one piece of fucking SALES merchandise. It's cheap enough as it is! JUST BUY IT. We're also pretty damn sure they stole a lot of our makeup, since some testers were missing and the shelf stock was emptier than it had been (Rachel'd just stocked, too, so there was our hint.)

I hate people some days. Bah.

Today's plans shall consist of taking a long, cool bath and reading more of Abhorsen (it's been a while since I've read the series, but I loved that one and Lirael the best), cleaning the hell out of my room, and continuing to put on the pleated trim on my Seifer skirt.

My official Otakon cosplay list is this, and it probably won't change any time soon:

Friday: Pirate Rosa (with Katy's pirate Rydia!), Wallmarket Aerith for evening and rave. (have to super secure that extension.)

Saturday: Steampunk Seifer, with group, steampunk outfit for Rave.

Sunday: The ShinRa employees group? (I am assuming we are still doing SUPER GHETTO TURK COSPLAYS, Y/Y?)

otakon, shenanigans, wasting time with jana, my tags blame a lot of people, will work for booze, i are pant, cock, i'm so steam i shit gears, what the shit is this
