My dad is always offering to help with my crazy projects. Roto-tilling the yard, making a dog crate cart, etc. I like to think I'm pretty independent so if there is any way possible for me to do things on my own I gratiously decline his help. Sometimes I feel like he is offering help because I'm not doing something good enough, and as much I like to think I'm past wanting my parents approval that really never goes away. Lately his offer to help has been on planting my clover in the front yard. He has offered a couple times in last few weeks, and then again today after I actually bought the clover and supplies. After again declining help I realized that he just wants to help. Its his way of trying to connect with me, and it really has nothing to do with how well I can or can't do it on my own. With this in mind, and his up coming retirement I plan to utilize his assistance more regularly. There are a ton of things I want to do in the yard but haven't. Planning to work on that stuff with my dad will make me do it, and most importantly give us time together.
