Speak Up!

The youth is T.I.R.E.D : Through with Inconsistent Rallying and Endless Demonstrations!

Hits you hard, doesn't it? It's perfectly true. I'm sure by now everyone, even those in other countries, have an idea on what is happening in the Philippines. Rallies, protests, demonstrations.. When will this come to an end? a lot of people must be asking that question. I am , too.

What we have to realize is that what's happening is not just the administration's fault but also everyone else's fault. Yes, even us, the Filipino youth. Why do I say so? The answer is simple: look through our country's history and you'll see the pattern.

We vote for someone and then after, say, three to four years we go to EDSA and tell that same person to go down from that same office which we have appointed him/her to.

In case you have not noticed, let me point this out: WE ARE THE ONES WHO GAVE THAT PERSON THE POWER AND THE AUTHORITY TO RULE AND GOVERN OUR NATION FOR A SPECIFIC PERIOD OF TIME.

It's not entirely that person's fault. In fact, it's largely our fault. We have been responsible - or rather, irresponsible - in choosing a ruler. And this has happened not only once but a few consecutive times.

So what am I saying? I want the public to realize that they are also at fault here. So why don't we just stop pointing fingers and instead work on the future of our nation?

The above statement is very true. But we, the youth, must realize that we also have a responsibility in this situation. We are also responsible for this. We must take a stand to this. We must also get involved in the future. We must stop being selfish, stop thinking only of ourselves and think of others - think of our country. We have been educated. Let's use that same education to the advantage of the nation.

No, I'm not telling you to go out of your house and join the rally or start a new rally of your own. No. There are other ways in helping the nation other than protesting. Be more involved without creating further trouble, like voicing out our opinions. We shouldn't be scared to talk. We should talk, even if we feel like no one's listening, for I'm sure that if we persisted, someone will listen to us. One voice may not be that much audible in a vast surrounding but if joined with ten, fifty, or even a hundred, that voice will be heard.

Let's learn from our mistakes and be more responsible.

So speak up, kabataang Pinoy.

Unless, of course, you don't care about what happens to the country.

Nahihiya ka bang maging Pinoy?
