Field Notes from an Office Party

Dec 17, 2010 13:25

Does anyone else feel like office holiday parties are some weird sociological experiment where you are being monitored?  I swear to the gods I feel like someone is taking notes on my behaviour with a voice over by David Attenborough.

The Junior Librarian approaches the beverage table and takes a glass.  Looking around her, she senses no one watching.  Taking the bottle of wine, she pours herself a generous amount. Unbeknownst to the young librarian, a murder of Senior Librarians comment on her drinking behaviours.  This knowledge will be used against her later during the gladiatorial match, also know as the secret santa gift giving ritual."

Speaking of secret santa gift hell... I got stuck with the most FUGLY thing I have ever seen.  It is an office joke that every year they give this awful bull rushes statute.  It has made the rounds for years and guess what... It's my year.  It-is-so-fucking-awful - I actually walk into my office and cringe every time I see it. But that's fine, I'm going to make it truly horrendous for next year.  They think they got me but just wait... I'm talking about full on silver paint, rhinestones, and feathers.  I'm gonna bedazzle the shit outta this thing.   It's gonna go electric!

Here it is in all it's glory.  I'll show you an after picture.

crafty me, random funtasticness, ramblings
