I haven't had any free time for the past seven months. Now I have a small bit of breathing space, since the school year is FINALLY over, and it's very strange. I can actually putter about online (even if it is with super slow dial-up...) and write in my LJ!
I am currently searching for a second summer job, since my regular job with the choir director will only be a few days per week during the summer. Heather and I are also desperately looking for an apartment in Seattle, since the one we thought we were getting didn't actually work out... and neither of us can make that commute all the time.
My parents and I are getting along so far, because I've only been back for two days, so that's a nice change of pace.
However, I'm very upset because I can only find book two of my HP series, and I want to read the entire set. I'm going to have to go diving among my parents' storage, which is a daunting task that I am NOT looking forward to; yet I am willing to brave the deeps for the sake of my sanity. I can't remember the last time I read a book purely for pleasure (all right, that's not strictly true, I reread James Herriot's Every Living Thing last month, and I stole time away from homework to do it) and I was about to implode.
Frodo, one of our guinea pigs, died. Now we only have mine left. Her name is Honey. It's odd to have only one pet. My parents have also changed little things around the house that I keep running into, and it's throwing me off just a bit every time. Taken altogether, it's rather disorienting. Not to mention that they've temporarily rented out my room to the 35-40 year old son of one of my mom's coworkers. So I'm staying in my brothers' old room, since they're gone now. It sounds really weird, I know, but he needed a place to stay for about a month--something to do with his job, and my parents' place was the only feasible option for some reason. It was the middle of finals week when my mom called and explained it all to me and asked if it was ok with me for him to use my room. I hadn't slept in about three days, and wasn't paying very close attention to the details at the time, but I said sure; thus, hence he came. Mac. I've only seen him once, because he works nights and sleeps during the day.
I'm finally beginning to recover from finals, which I must say is my favorite thing about being here--sleep!
