Weekend Knitting Update

It wasn't an extremely productive weekend, but I did get a bit done. In addition to actually knitting, I got a couple of great books from the library. I checked out No Idle Hands, The Social History of American Knitting (Anne L. Macdonald), which I'm enjoying a lot, so far. I also borrowed Knitting on the Road (Nancy Bush), which has a lot of great sock patterns. I've included some pattern/yarn combo pictures for me to ponder, below.

The second GWTF sock is taking longer than the first, as I was working a lot on the vest last week. But I'm on the foot, now, so things should go quickly from here!

I really like stripey steeks. Each round is so much faster, now that there are so many fewer stitches on the needles. Woohoo! Now that the pattern itself isn't as exciting for me, it's nice to have bunches of steeks to break things up. I think there is one spot where I decreased one too many or few, but it's not the end of the world. I'll figure out where I am when I get to the end of the armhole shaping, and see if I need to leave out or add an extra decrease for one side of one of the armholes.

I'm thinking that Conway will be a good pattern for my Lorna's Laces sock yarn. The pattern is written for LL, and I like how it kind of breaks up pooling without getting rid of it completely. This may be my airplane/airport knitting next month.

I really like the light creamy color used for the sock in the book, but I think this slightly darker natural color will look great, too. These were the socks that first caught my eye when I first looked through this book, last month.

I've been trying to think of a good pattern for this Wildfoote sock yarn. I think this pattern will suit it very nicely. I may consider using metal needles for it, because when I tried using this yarn with bamboo needles, it was sticky city. The yarn is kind of sticky, and I was using some of my stickier bamboos. I think metal will be the way to go, here.

fair isle vest, go with the flow socks
