(no subject)
I've decided that the sleeves on R.I.B. won't be too wide after all. I don't think so, at least. I did a bunch of research, and it seems that 18" or so in circumference will be about right. I might change it a tiny bit, but I'm not going to completely redesign them. Of course, I still have to play around with my recalculations for increases, as my row gauge is off.
I decided that the next step would be to block the front and back, as I may want to pin them on A. to figure out sleeve length. I don't trust the measurements given in the pattern, as I'm not sure how dropped the drop sleeves are going to be, if that makes sense.
I did decide to do something daring while blocking. A. wanted a 40" sweater, but I think that might be a bit tight in an aran. I decided to block the pieces to 21" each, for a 42" sweater. I think that's a more reasonable size, personally. I hope I don't regret it later, but I have a feeling I won't. Now, do I tell him, or not? His desire for a smaller sweater comes from the last sweater I knit for him. The pattern suggested a 44" size for his chest size. Nope. Way too loose on top because of the ribbing. It looked okay at first, but with some wearing and some thought, we both decided that it's best off in a box in the basement. I think it would have fit perfectly if I made the next size down. Stilly pattern recommendations. It doesn't help that A. didn't measure his chest very well for that one. I may have actually gone down a size if I had the measurements I do now. As this sweater is not as floppy as the other one, I'm not worried about its 4" of ease being too much. That would be super silly, right?
It's all dewy and sparkly from the sprayer. Let's just hope that it dries in time for bed, as I tried to give it a good soaking. I think I might have overdone it, as a lot of the water seemed to want to form dew on top, instead of soak in immediately. If it were just me, I'd sleep on the couch. I don't think A. will be up for that, though. One of these days, I need to get a real blocking board...
