I know exactly how you feel, I've been through it recently. Look at it this way, if you can manage fine without him then you shouldnt be with him, on the other hand If you cant see yourself without him and would hate to see him dating someone else, then the feelings are still there.
Sometimes you've got to consider your own feelings over other peoples. In the long run they'll get over it, because life does go on. Also if a relationship isn't mutual, they'res no point in being in it.
