I used to mock California endlessly for the near-hysteria that emerged every time it rained. The top story on the local news would always be, “OMG! It’s raining! Will it still be raining tomorrow? What will we doooo?”
And yet, I now recognize that the UK is exactly as ridiculous when it snows. I found myself obsessively checking news sites today, in order to mindlessly read stories that provided no information except, “OMG! It’s snowing!” I also checked the weather forecast over and over, presumably hoping it would magically change and start predicting sunshine and warm weather for Wednesday. (It didn’t.)
Oh, sigh. At least the chances of me having a snow day tomorrow are moderate to high. Sadly, when you’re a grown up, you still have to do work on your snow day.
Highlight of my day: discovering that Real Time resumes on Feb 20. Since it will presumably also be marginally warmer in 3 weeks, I also plan to resume caring about life on that day.
(That last sentence was way eosteric if you didn't know that I was referring to Real Time With Bill Maher. Heh.)
