You Make Me Wanna by obsessive24 (Skins, AU, Tony/Maxxie)
I have had the song ('You Make Me Wanna' by Usher -- which I don't even like *hands*) stuck in my head ALL WEEK as a result of watching this vid waaay too many times. All the jump cuts make it a really addictive watch. Even though I've seen the scenes many times before, the vid puts a fresh and playful twist on them. The AU element is so skillfully constructed that it barely requires any suspension of disbelief.
I Can't See Why by proofpudding (Gilmore Girls, Rory/Dean)
When all is said and done (and however unpopular an opinion it may be -- I also love Lorelai/Christopher! oh noes!) Rory/Dean was my favourite thing about GG. The fact that, over the course of 5 years, they went from fairytale-perfect first love, into an adulterous, fucked-up relationship is DARK. And dark is interesting. This vid cleverly juxtaposes scenes from every juncture of Rory and Dean's relationship. With no transition, you have the tiffs, the meaningful smiles, the happy kisses, the angsty kisses, the breakups, betrayals and Iloveyous -- and they just congeal. It's amazing. It's a vid in modernist, stream-of-consciousness style! Gahhh. So incredibly clever and effective.
Perfect Enemy by ashiva (Veronica Mars, AU, Logan/Veronica)
During my brief nostalgia fit for VM recently, I rewatched a bunch of fanvids and this emerged as my favourite. It starts off by highlighting the animosity between Logan and Veronica and delivers all the deliciousness of a well-edited vid. But the AU conclusion it builds to takes my breath away every damn time I watch it. So good. (Don't let the song choice put you off, either -- the screechy vocal and beats of the tatu song only add to the awesomeness. Trust me.)
Jesus by astartexx (Supernatural, gen, Dean)
I actually enjoy watching SPN fanvids way more than I enjoy watching the show -- fanvids mean that I don't have to deal with the show's gross gender stuff. Anyway, it will probably not come as a shock that I love this vid, since the song ('Jesus' by Brand New) is one of my favourites. However, it really is a beautiful, meditative look at Dean slowly coming to terms with his inevitable death.
American Baby by sockkpuppett and Liza (Friday Night Lights, gen)
This vid... totally makes me cry. :,( It pulls together all the great family/town/football stuff in FNL that is moving even if you don't give a damn about football.
