Someone posted a pretty great Brand New
primer. It's well-researched! There are footnotes! (Note: I tend to be a bit *eh* when people directly attribute the breakdown of TBSv1.0 to Adam and Michelle splitting up. If you've ever listened to 'A Slow Descent', you should be able to figure out a better explanation for why John left the band. But I'm nitpicking.)
The Long Island gaymos are still my favourites by a really long way. They have the best music and the most tortured history. More John/Jesse (OTP) fic! For the record, I would also read John/Adam, Jesse/Kevin, Jesse/Garrett, Michelle/anyone. I'm just putting that out there. >_>
I'm really late to the party, but I finally watched the "video" for
The Cab - One Of Those Nights. (Seamless segue: the first time I watched it, I thought the guy in a hat was J.Lace. *facepalm* It's actually CASH.)
I guess FBR are trying to give The Cab time to just be a band and chill under the radar, instead of actively promoting them/giving them money to make videos. Hmmm. On the one hand, I think that's a smart way to avoid a repeat of Panic "
pay your dues!" At the Disco. But Whisper War is such a ludicrously catchy pop album that it deserves promo. I dunnoooo.
Anyway! I feel I should note that I have watched the moment at 0:48, where Cash leaps on DeLeon (while at their graduation, presumably) about twenty times. Uuuungh. Despite the fact that something is clearly going on between Cash and Marshall, my OTP is Cash/Singer. Because, as the first part of this post illustrates, a high school feud in my bulletproof kink. /o\
I am still in a state of flaiiiiiiiiil that Empires are releasing their album for free in
TWO WEEKS. Even setting aside my weird Tom Conrad fixation, 'Valmont', 'Midnight Land' and 'Keep the Mood' have been some of my most consistently played songs this year. Seriously, if you could encapsulate my taste in music, it would be those three songs.
