Friday Night Lights
If there were an award for "show that makes you cry most often", FNL would win hands down. Jesus. I lost it when Matt was in the bath with the shower running on him, saying that everyone leaves him (wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh). And then I lost it all over again at the shot of Smash alone in the locker room, bursting into tears (gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh).
That aside, I know a lot of people have been down on this season and... eh. I agree and I disagree. There have been cracktastic plotlines. In much the same way that VM in s2 was really into "mystery for the sake of mystery", FNL is getting really "drama for the sake of drama". And the beauty of FNL was that it took understated, everyday drama and made it compelling. There's a whole lot less subtlety and pathos in, "crazy meth addicts beat up Riggins!!!!" Still, I think the show handles these crack (or... meth, whatever) storylines really well, so I can't rag on the writers too hard.
Now for a baseless rant: GOD, MATT CRUNCHY. I haaaaaate him. I mean, he's not a bad actor. He's medium-cute. But I HATE HIM SO MUCH. On YA, he came between Scout/Bella (oh, sweet, sweet fauxcest!). On GG, he came between Rory/Dean. And on FNL, he's coming between Tim/Lyla (shut up, I don't care if you don't 'ship it -- I DO!). Why do you have to shit all over my OTPs, Matt Crunchy? Why, every goddamn time?
