I'm surprised by how easily FNL gets me to suspend disbelief with increasingly outrageous scenarios. Tami HITTING her child?? I gasped when I saw the preview but once it was happening, I totally bought it. It's a testament to the quality of the show that it can pull those things off.
And Riggins finding God: did you believe it? I kinda did/do. Even if Lyla doesn't.
Maybe I'm just really white trash, but my friends' mums often used to slap them when we were teenagers. So um. Didn't really need to suspend disbelief for that one. :x
See, the Riggins-finds-God scene, I thought, was masterful. Because NO, I didn't buy it and I laughed really hard at, "you get me closer to God". But, at the same time, I really believed that Riggins wanted to find God (or find something, at least); he wanted to believe. Which was strangely moving.
