property shows

I don't really know why* I love property shows ('Location Location Location', 'Grand Designs', 'Property Ladder', etc.) quite so much, but really, there's little on TV that I enjoy more. (I was planning on watching this season of 'The Apprentice', but it's on opposite 'Grand Designs'. Sorry, competing with Kevin McCloud's default expression of o__O is just not even feasible. La la la.)

Also: Kirstie and Phil! Could they be any more adorable? In this week's episode, as they leave their meeting with the prospective house buyers, who have a completely unrealistic spec, Kirstie takes Phil's arm, (clearly imagining herself as Audrey Hepburn in some old movie,) and says to him in a very soft and assured voice, "Now what you do is you write them a letter saying that it was lovely to meet them, but we're sorry, we're not going to be able to help them." Hee! I love the passive-aggressiveness of writing a letter, but not even doing it herself, getting Phil to do it. Bwahahahaha!

*I can hazard a few guesses, though:

1) My dad is a property surveyor and it kind of... rubs off. :/ I've been watching really old episodes of L³ on More4 recently and it was quite mindboggling to see a woman buy a flat in east London for £100,000. Surely you wouldn't get anywhere for less than a quarter of a million now? (...see? It RUBS OFF.)

2) I'm poor. I will probably be poor for my entire lifetime (*pessimistic*). Thus, the idea of buying a nice rambling rural house is a fantasy that can only be lived through the magical tellybox.

3) I'm nosy. I like seeing people's houses. (I really like being out during the early evening, when it's dark but people haven't drawn their curtains yet. I love getting a tiny peek into people's living rooms. [/creepy])

P.S. Is anyone else supremely creeped out by the current Marks & Spencer advert? With Twiggy, Mylene Klass and Erin O'Connor? That is weird selection of people. Weird! :|
