(If all this Mighty Boosh stuff reads like gibberish, go read my
primer! okay? okay! :D)
I finally got my s1&2 DVDs of The Mighty Boosh. \o/ Needless to say, I have been gorging myself on them. The awesomeness is almost too much to digest, but there are a few things I'd like to note.
First: when Howard and Vince leave for America* in '...Milky Joe', and Naboo sardonically says, "I won't let your room just yet" -- is he directing that at just Vince? or is he implying that Vince and Howard share a room? :D I don't really 'ship Howince (ouch! bad 'ship name), but I'm gonna assume it's the latter, because it makes me happy.
*By the way, how completely has "going to America" become a euphemism for "become a gay couple" on British TV? I mean, there's Stuart and Vince from QAF, obviously. And aren't Craig and JP always talking about going to America in Hollyoaks? Okay, those are the only two examples I have. But still!
Somehow, I ended up watching the last episode of s2 ('The Nightmare Of Milky Joe') first--thought it was amazing--and then went back and started watching s1. As a result (and also from things I'd heard about s1 vs. s2), I had expected to like s2 more than s1. Actually, it ended up that I liked s1 more. Even though I could see that the zoo setting must have been restrictive, I liked the cohesive, sub-sitcom quality it gave the series -- as well as all the animal-related storylines. Vince's infinity with the animals! what happened to that? :( Vince trying to woo the panda! that was adorable! This show makes bestality seem quite sweet. Just go with it.
If I'm honest, I didn't really like the fact that the viewer was constantly plunged into alternate universes in s2. And all the random new characters were a bit much. Although some of them were great, it did give the show a bit of a "sketch show" quality. It made me realize that, although Noel and Julian are funny no matter what, I really, *really* love Vince and Howard. I was trying to figure out why I liked 'Charlie' so much (despite the fact that Noel and Julian said they thought that episode was a bit shit) and I think it's because it's just a whole lot of Howard and Vince being... Howard and Vince. *squish*
That said, I kind of really, really love Old Gregg. And I kind of really, really, genuinely 'ship him with Howard. Um? :x "Here's a picture of me! and another picture of me! ...and a picture of Bailey's." :D Come on, that's ADORABLE! This show does things to me!
