Is it wrong that I find Dexter a touching family drama? It is! I love Richard-from-SATC as the dad, and I love that Dexter tries so hard (to be normal; not to kill people) simply because he doesn't want his family to be disappointed in him. Aww! (Touching.)
By comparison to the BIG LOVE I have for my fluffytastic serial killer show, I continue to be underwhelmed by
Torchwood.
It's just a lot like 'The Bill' with alien stuff. Mehhh.
Gwen is cute, but apparently quite DUM. Also, if the little flashback-to-emotion thingamagig is to be believed has a lovely lovely unremarkable relationship with her boyfriend and NO SECRET PAIN WHATSOEVER. Yaaawn.
(More Captain Jack in my Captain Jack spin-off, please and thank you.)
There were some proper creepy-great moments in this episode. I was, in particular, glad that the writers revisited Owen's penchant for raping women, because... yeah, that bothered me slightly in the first episode. However, it seemed to lack cohesion, and I disliked Gwen's overdramatic angst and the Gwen/Jack=OTP! stuff being shoved down my throat... blah.
(Did I mention that Jack really just was not in it much?)
